►About the
Center
The Center was established on May 1 of 1979 to promote
and provide guidance to special education in elementary
schools in Taipei City and Kimen. Main tasks of the
Center include counseling on special education,
organizing forums on topics of special education,
assisting in assessment for special children, proving
guidance to establishment of classes for special
children in elementary schools, publishing books and
periodicals on topics of special education, cooperating
with Department of Educational Administration of Taipei
City to organize research and study events for special
education teachers.
In August of 2006, Professor Kun-Ying Tsai was elected
as the new Director of the center. He is guiding all
staff of the Center on proving service to special
education teachers as well as students and parents with
special needs.
Moreover, he is leading all staff of the Center striving
forward the new goals.
►Prospect
The Center endeavors to deliver the correct
understanding and recognition of special children to the
public, further support special education policies and
plans executed by the government, in order to protect
and enhance welfare for special children, and bring more
support and appreciation to special education teachers
and professionals.
Goal:
The Center provides trainings to special education
teachers of elementary schools in Taipei City, in order
to enhance their professional abilities and achieve
individualized teaching.
Main tasks: (short term, medium term)
¡´ Short term tasks:
1) Every special education teacher in elementary schools
in Taipei shall obtain license on special children
assessment.
2) Organize research and study events for elementary
school special education teachers in Taipei City.
3) Organize combined special education forums.
¡´ Medium term tasks:
1) Exchange information on and send out application
forms for special education events to elementary schools
in Taipei City via email.
2) Organize promotional event for special education.
